Instant Portal for J2EE is a web application development framework. This means that it is a tool for developers that will facilitate the development of web applications that connect to an Informix database. Instant Portal includes a rich set of utilities that solve common developer problems that usually require large amounts of coding when creating JSPs, such as:
  • Sending an email (with optional attachments)
  • Sending pager messages
  • Uploading an image or a document to the database
  • Downloading large objects from the database to a local cache
  • Performing complex calculations
  • Performing e-payments
  • Flow control
Instant Portal also includes four complete applications built with the framework that can easily be used and customized for a specific customer:
  • Instant Mall (a fully featured e-mall that can house hundreds of stores)
  • Instant Surveys (an easy way to create and administrate online surveys)
  • Instant Postcards
  • Instant Charts
I am one of the members of Instant Portal's development and documentation team.
